bling bling

alright got it all buttoned up this afternoon, just needs the glove box half of the latch and new gauges to fill the holes and its good to go :)

Photobucket

its incredibly hard to get a good photo of :\

Photobucket

but im trying

Photobucket

love how the old square gauges look with it all together, this photo is pretty off from the right colors but oh well. i think ill have one of my photo savy friends come over and help me shoot the car when its all "done"

Photobucket

before

Photobucket

after

Photobucket

installed! its just some little teeny tabs that hold it in so im thinking later down the road i may put some magnets to hold it a little firmer and hide my 'real' radio behind it. that way i dont have to put it in the glove box and i have no need to ugly up my dash.

i guess ill keep you posted on that :)

Saturdays bloooooooooooow

Ok well maybe just this one, and totaly literal. Driving to work this morning up the interstate the wind looked just shy of fast enough to rip the art off of the billboards as i drove past them while just barely drafting off a big ford truck.

it was all i could do to keep up speed, that wind was brutal, on the way home when i hit some banked turns i could feel it swipe under my car. it felt like it was going to roll me, tiny honda and all :S

but it didnt, and i made it home safe and sound.

Photobucket

in real life brutalness i blasted Stevens lower stomach this afternoon, and a bit on the ribs

Photobucket

crummy iphone photos as always, but its just in progress so oh well

Photobucket

couple more sittings and a quick bit of touch up and this ridiculous family crest tattoo will be done!

Photobucket

ate some pizza when i made it home and headed downstairs to start in on putting the dash for the tudor back together after finaly getting it back from paint.

Photobucket

fresh paint and chrome ready to go together!

Photobucket

there are less bolts holding the new chrome trim on then the stock ones, but they have these thread in bolts with nuts instead of little tiny screws so im figureing its prolly just as secure if not more.

Photobucket

a pretty quick install i cant believe how much heavier it is with all that chrome on it haha.

Photobucket

along with the ashtrays i have yet to put the hinges and latches on the glove box so i had to hold it up for a look~see

Photobucket

new paint, new chrome and that stainless i polished up a while back looking good!

Photobucket

all set to get the rest of the hardware painted and tweaked so i can bolt the rest together before finding a nice spot to sit it out of the way until its time to pop some new gauges in it, wire it and put it back in the car. hopefully ill have complete pix tomorrow :)

process

ran out of things to paint on...

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

wrapped some muslin around a scrap board id painted some randomness on a year or two ago and tapped it tight.

Photobucket

and painted a skull of course, colors make me think of cory rogers for some reason.

Photobucket

just sorta experimenting and waisting time so i but a thick-ish glaze over it to see what happens.

Photobucket

then i decided i was hungry and would document that process

Photobucket

Photobucket

well theres one right now!

hopefully picking up the finish welded rear tomorrow and bringing to mikes shop so we can start on tearing it down to see what we are all going to need to tear it apart and put it back together better :)

ice ice baby and the wasted saturday

well i got up and headed on the road to work

Photobucket

lots of ice, sliding off the road and general lameness i found some gravel and headed back home

Photobucket

Photobucket

i then ate some chocolate and tried to think of something to do. my original plans were to buy stuff for an oil change this weekend and some more boards to paint after work. but as i didnt make it and everything covered in ice those place were kinda out the door.

the husker game, as has been the trend lately, was to depressing to watch so i went about messing with car bits.

i but the freshly polished trim back on the freshly painted glove box door and wrapped it back up in butcher paper and back on the shelf then set to fixing the hinge.

the hing on the glove box is 3 or so pieces, all of them were rusty-ish and a few bolts/rivets? were snapped off. so i sanded it all down and drilled the rivets out.

at roughly 19 degrees without the wind i decided that the bench grinder realy would be better placed in the shop not the un insulated garage.

Photobucket

that all done i strung the bits up and sprayed them shiney rattle can black. they are proly a bit runny but its hard to hit all the nooks and crannies with out it getting a little thick. oh well, you probably wont ever see it anyways.

Photobucket

charles invited me over for dinner so with parts drying i bundled up and headed over

Photobucket

not a flattering photo but dang those pork chops were good!

Photobucket

back down the icy icy side walk home to blog.

hopefully you were all more productive than me today!

these blogs have sucked

sorry, i feel like i should be putting something more 'together' up for posts this months. I'll try tomorrow but no promises, i can't believe how different this month is from last year this month. Or at least it seems that way... maybe ill go read old blogs to confirm ha.

anyhow...

Photobucket

stopped to get some oil for the honda after stopping to find out that the rear axel perches for the 46' had been welded on last night and found this!

the car has obviously been hit...numerous times, nothing on the front end lines up anymore sheetmetal wise so when i parked a little close to the curb this morning and backed up off it everything shifted and the zip tye that was holding this parking light in place popped and let the light dangle. i used some bailing wire and put it back. eh' its a thousand dollar car that gets 35-55 mpg. im not complaining with the commute ive got.

Photobucket

started on the stencil/drawing for todays tattoo.

Photobucket

noticed this burl wood looking rinse cup mid tattoo....

Photobucket

crummy pic of finished tattoo, been doing a lot of tattoos on the tops of forearms lately. turns out, almost always hard to get a non crap photo.

oh well

Photobucket

finished up the night wrenching on the stock rear end for the 46 removing the radius rods for a guy in california, everything unbolted very easy but the driverside just didnt want to pop lose :( poured some kroil on it and will try to get it tomorrow night i guess.
