yeesh, falling behind much?

well other then the fact that i've been massively spoiled by audi for my birthday and freezing my everything off working on sarah's car. i haven't been up to much the last few days laying around Omaha while sarah's at work. i figured i would make an attempt at phsydo productiveness and make a blog post. after i logged on a realized how bad ive been about posting after Novembers ridiculousness and figured it was high time i get back in the saddle... so to speak. i haven't actually a saddle to sit in while i blog.

yet.

any how i figured id just do a quick photo post. so here goes :)



trying to not post un finished work, but whatever, here is a fish in progress :)



after working on that i met up with my mom in her quest for total Christmas shopping domination.



though Christmas with her and the rest of my family was slightly delayed because i drove to little rock to spend the 25th with sarahs family. im pretty sure i missed a snow storm when i was gone, upset as i am about that it was still pretty fun.

along the way we stopped at this burger place and everything made me thing of my friend zombea --see side bar links. all the posters/ containers were people eating food very zombie-esk



after driving all night i spent the next day napping on sarahs lap with her dog cosmo :)i think he' sa boxer/ pit mix. very smart, very nice, very protective haha.



she didn't seem to mind.



since my birthday is the 24th she made me this AWESOME birthday cake. its a rainbow of colors inside topped with a lemon frosting i love :) AND she bought me tickets to James stinkin Taylor in march. so awesome. so spoiled :)

it wasn't a total cute fest, i did go mess with some nitro fueled all wheel drive remote control cars with her younger brother. i took the body off for this shot obviously. i was just marveling at how so much is going on in such a tight space!



oddly enough didn't really take a lot of Christmas pix at my parents house, though i did snap this one of my new candles/frames/Buddha after i put them in my room at the studio.

it was a super tight year but we had a great time and ended up with presents i think we will all enjoy together. namely the new cable internet/ wireless/ wii/ netflix aspect. i cant wait for a huge snow storm. mother nature don't let me down!

in case you were wondering, yes i loved all the snow last year.



for new years we headed over to a friends house for a little party/ get together. Cam9000 was there.

anyhow, had a great time with cam, audi, sarah, meg and mike bringing in the new year watching Scott pilgrim vs the world.



spent the first day of the year in sub zero weather working on sarahs car while she slaved away making coffee in mall land, and had a great dinner out at PF Changs. it was our first time there but most definitely not our last.

that's not even close to all that has been going on. my brother came home for a week or so and we saw true grit with our dad, he brought his 6 month daughter over and she was beond epic cute. but i think this is enough for now, hope your new years was great and im sure ill see you all down the road!

in no particular order:

trains :) yeah i know, public transportation sooo exciting right? well i like trains so yes. so exciting!




the farmers market, ive heard about it and i love them in general. but ive yet to visit portlands.



the victory bar, full of super tastey quasi fancy food



voodoo donuts and all the other cool stuff down town



the speak easy, kinda seedy in a good way and tastey turkey sandwiches



the sling shot lounge, not all that exciting but i hear the burgers are good and its preety cool to see all the tattoo related photos up on the wall at such a large scale



powell books, im going to spend sooo much cash.... if i can save it up. haha also no photo but def hitting up counter media as well



i will uphold this idea



ground kontrol! wear i will try my luck at being better at awesome vintage video games.



food trucks! i may spend even more money there haha



probably wont ride it or stop to see it, but this gondala type thing goes from the parking ramp to the hospital. guess they ran out of parking room and thought this was a good way to go.

and the giant rose test gardens, this ones a maybe. ive never been there let alone in march. but im betting there wont be anything bloming there. this is always why ive left out the japanese and chineses gardens that i have also never seen the inside of.

we probably wont do a bunch of those, but it'd be cool if we did. a bunch of them are pretty close to each other so i guess we'll see what our $ situation and my work schedule while im there looks like. either way it should be loads of fun!

A day at a time

I stole this pic from the blog of one of the artist from conspiracy inc. I don't recall which one. Guess you'll have to look threw them all to figure it out!

So I'm going to attempt posting everyday this month. Sarah's going to as well as part of some website/ win stuff thing, but I'm just trying to keep up with her for fun :)

So I'd say that a lot of them will be pretty light on photos, heck even light on words. But I'll try to make them worthwhile either way.

So let's get with it already!

What's new? What's going on?
Not to much is new other then the winter weather creeping in ever so sneaky. The shops grand opening seems to have gone well and business is picking up. I really owe my clientele quite a bit. Not only do they continue coming to me but often bring me there friends as well. This last week I scheduled a 3/4 sleeve for one of my clients and a half leg sleeve of awesomeness for one of her freinds!

With these pieces and some in progress work I'm very excited for the making of my new portfolio that should be done very early January. It'll be another hardbound book but that's about were the similarities end. Very excited, I'm sure I'll keep you updated. 

I'm currently trying to work on alot of larger Japanese work, I think I'm really starting to find my place in that niche. I'm excited to show people what I'm doing when these few pieces are finished. To contrast that I'm doing a few large borderline illustrative and one large very traditional japanese tattoos as well. 

Outside of work I'm trying to be preemptive about getting the winter time blues. I think my daily commute really contributes to my isolation, get up, drive to work, drive home, sleep, repeat.

I usually cure it with travel, and though I plan to be in Portland in December, it's just a bandaid. So I'm trying to come with some sort of social thing to do in sxc to make freinds/ hangout with friends. I'm thinking a weekly drawing club/night would be fun but most of my interested friends are in Omaha/ Lincoln so I'm not sure how well this idea will shape up. But it's trying?

The weather. The move. The commute. My friend Ian not waking up Friday night these are most def things that contribute to bumming me out.

I think that's probably enough for one night, gotta save something for the rest of the night right?

Shes off celebrating in Omaha so I figured until we can plan something I'd post a birthday post of awesomeness for her.

last summer we traveled all over the country together by planes, trains, automobiles and giant boats! this is us @ the met in nyc after we snuck in disgused as art ;)



we even made it to an old navy to hang out with some of Butch's freinds :)



i think this was towards the end of our endless 6+ hour overnight lay over @ the dallas/ fortworth airport from hell. i remember telling her, "just wait just wait. im going to put my beard on you in a photo its going to be awesome. trust me."

this is somewere "very near" florida, but not actualy florida on our way back from hanging out with Sean Herman and CW in Mobile.



what were you guys hanging out with those studs for? half leg sleeves and face tattoos of course!

though small in stature she can still demolish a full pound burger, witness!



and stick a banana in your ear when your not looking, blaine has no clue haha



and if you dont watch out she'll shrink your head afterward!! ok so not realy, this is in seattle feeding her love of actual shrunken heads. she even knits them :)

she is actualy super man!... metropolis ill in real life.



we drove in a MASSIVE rain storm for 7 hours from nashville to mobile and just when we thought we'd escaped the down pour it started again! so hard it set car alarms off, though some say it was actualy the shock waves set off by having so much awesome in one town at one time



not a big fan of backwoods nashville we celebrated in saint louis that we had safely escaped with milkshakes the size of your head!



for a while audi was in orange city, shocking right?

On a "progress for the day" note, this tattoo wandered back in the door after over a year being m.i.a. looks like it healed nice though!



so we sat down and finished it up quick, sorry for the blood staining and what not. hopefulyl she'll be back in a few weeks and ill get some healed shots :)
